AlphaTheta Launches CDJ-1500X: Compact Cloud-Ready Player

AlphaTheta has launched the CDJ-1500X, a compact professional media player that captures the spirit and features of its flagship CDJ-3000X, designed specifically for bars, smaller clubs, mobile DJs, and venues with limited booth space. Priced at $1,699 USD before tax, this innovative player looks to deliver the versatility of a traditional CDJ setup while reducing the footprint significantly, making it an ideal choice for those working in tighter settings.

Measuring just 252.1 mm in width, the CDJ-1500X is engineered to fit comfortably into smaller DJ booths or alongside turntables and rotary mixers. Unlike all-in-one controllers, AlphaTheta is targeting DJs who prefer modular setups but require equipment that occupies minimal space. Despite its compact design, the CDJ-1500X includes advanced features akin to its bigger sibling. This includes a larger touchscreen that allows DJs to browse up to 15 tracks simultaneously along with enhanced waveform information, helping them make quicker mixing decisions.

A standout feature of the CDJ-1500X is its cloud connectivity. With built-in Wi-Fi, DJs can access their rekordbox CloudDirectPlay library directly, liberating them from the limitations of USB drives. Moreover, users can perform using their subscriptions to music services like Apple Music, Beatport Streaming, and TIDAL through StreamingDirectPlay. This adds a new level of flexibility to performances, enabling DJs to bring a more extensive music library to their sets.

In addition to its groundbreaking audio capabilities, the CDJ-1500X introduces CoBeat, a new service launching on July 9 that fosters interaction between DJs and their audiences. Attendees can scan a QR code generated by the DJ or venue to browse a curated song catalog, vote on their preferred tracks, or submit requests directly to the DJ. These requests will display on the CDJ's touchscreen in real-time, while audience reactions—including emojis—are visible on the DJ's smartphone, allowing for a dynamic and engaging performance.

Notably, the CoBeat feature is entirely optional, giving DJs the power to enable or disable it at their discretion. With its blend of high-tech features and user-friendly design, the CDJ-1500X marks a significant advancement in the realm of DJ equipment, catering effectively to the evolving needs of modern DJs.
