Spotify Unveils Playlist Notes and Editor Profiles Features

Spotify is enhancing the personalization of its playlists with the introduction of two new features: Playlist Notes and public Editor Profiles. Playlist Notes allow Spotify’s editorial team to provide written context for individual tracks within select playlists. This feature also extends to listeners, enabling them to add their own comments to tracks in playlists they create or collaborate on. With this addition, users can now better understand the significance of each song and the rationale behind its inclusion.

This initiative targets key editorial playlists, including Today’s Top Hits, RapCaviar, Hot Country, All New Pop, mint, and Fresh Finds Hip-Hop. By tapping on the Notes section at the top of participating playlists, listeners can view insights and commentary that may also show up on the Now Playing screen while listening to the track, even outside of the original playlist context.

In tandem with Playlist Notes, Spotify is rolling out Editor Profiles, which offer a glimpse into the lives of the curators behind some of the platform's most influential playlists. These public-facing profiles will showcase the editors' top tracks, favorite albums, and the playlists they contribute to, creating a connection between listeners and the faces behind the playlists that guide their music discovery.

As music discovery increasingly relies on algorithms, these new features highlight Spotify’s emphasis on human curation and personal engagement. Regular Spotify users can effortlessly contribute to this more personal approach by adding notes to their curated playlists through a simple mobile interface.

Initially available to Free and Premium listeners in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, the features are expected to roll out to more markets soon.
